Hi Laura16,

Thank you for posting your question.

Chunking is a way to work out a division sum, by taking away small chunks of a number to work out the answer. 

For example, 50 divided by 5. 

(2 x  5 = 10) 50 -10 = 40  

(2  x 5 = 10) 40 - 10 = 30

(2 x 5 = 10)  30 - 10 = 20 

(2 x 5 = 10)  20 - 10 = 10

(2 x 5 = 10)  10 - 10 = 0

In total that is 10 lots of 2 that make 50.
